Diamon Coatings
DIARC-Technology Inc. Finland, has developed an industrial process to manufacture high quality amorphous DIARC® Diamond Coatings at low temperature. The only raw materials used for the coating are graphite and metal. No chemicals are used, which makes the process safe for the environment.
Due to the low deposition temperature and other unique features of the DIARC process, a wide selection of substrate materials can be coated. The DIARC Diamond Coatings have a unique combination of a high hardness, good wear resistance, and a low coefficient of friction. The coatings are said to be ideal for industrial cutting blades and dies, as well as for precision tools and components.

Lab Info Management
Electro Standards Laboratories, USA, has developed a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for its ESLTest II Materials Testing System. The LIMS software monitor feature allows data from the tester to be saved at one location, and data analysis and plotting to be conducted at other network locations that are remote from the tensile testing equipment. LIMS enables the data analysis function to be separated from the actual testing function, and data results to be easily shared over the corporate network, or e-mailed to other locations.
